Effect of addition of platelet-rich fibrin to tragal perichondrium graft in the endoscopic trans-canal myringoplasty

Abstract Background Myringoplasty operation is the reconstruction of tympanic membrane (TM) which performed to prevent recurrent discharge ear and improve hearing impairment caused by TM perforation. Platelets are key factors in tissue repair mechanisms. They provide essential growth factors, stimulate fibroblasts create extracellular matrix deposition neovascularization. The aim this study assessment topical use autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) improvement myringoplasty success rate. Results Patients were divided two groups, group A included 20 patients who submitted with adding PRF from same patient, B without PRF. At 6 months postoperatively, rate (graft taking) case (95%) was significantly higher than control (70%) ( P value = 0.037).
